help on 6.2 motor swap
hey guys, i got a friend of mine who owns a body shop, and he just towed in a 07 or 08 yukon with a 6.2 that was totaled pretty bad on the side, he has bought the vehicle so he said he would sell me the 6.2 out of it but i have to put the 5.3 in the place of it and im doing all the work, i havn't messed with a 6.2 at all, so will i be able to just swap motors or will i need the tranny that is bolted to the 6.2 because im not sure what tranny comes with them and im guessing ill need the pcm and harness off the 6.2 too right?...any help is appreciated, my truck is a rcsb 2001 silverado with the 5.3, im getting a heck of a deal that im not gona pass up so whatever i need to do im going to, thanks

the tranny will bolt up but you need to take the intake off and see if it has afm it will have a maze looking grooves in the valley cover if it has that you might wanna find another one because you will have to change the valley cover and use some ls3 parts to delete it kinda pricey i would think but if its smooth you will just need a lingenfelter 58x to 24x converter and a take the cam out and timing cover plate and gears to make it not be vvt .We already did this to my friends I found him one out of an 08 escalade with 2,000 miles for $2200 shipped.

you will not need to use the computer because it does not control the tranny 2 seperate computers just have yours tuned on a dyno. and not a stock 5.3 cam thought you had the cam in your signature thats the same one we put in his the tsp224 dont get a cam with 1 bolt get a gen 3 cam with 3 bolts. oh and you are going to have to get a ls2 timing cover because it has the cam sensor on the front of the cover and a ls2 timing chain and gears.
