Which is easier??
I RRREEEAAAALLLLYYYY want a 6 sp auto in my truck!
I know there have been issues trying to run the tranny with the old computer so my question is...
Would it be better to wait till someone figures out how to run the tranny(stand alone Computer)?
OR...
Would it be easier to use a new comuter on the LQ4?
Would that work? Was there any model with the new computer that still had an LQ4,LQ9? Sort of like the 411 swap for the vortec motors...

The standalone 6L80E controller has been "weeks away" for over a year now. I wouldn't hold my breath.
You can't just drop a newer computer in either, the crank and cam reluctors are different and it won't communicate with your older gauge cluster. It runs on a completely different communications technology.
Really the only way to run a 6L80E in an older truck is to run a hybrid system with 2 PCM's....one to communicate with all other other old equipment and one to actually run the engine. There was a shop on the boards that did it...Speartech I think. They said it was a total pain in the ***.

Thread High Jack Alert.
I called TCI and asked if they had a wiring adapter so my guage cluster would work. You know to register my speed, and it kind of came back crickets on the other end.
I hope I just got a idiot as the way the 4L80 6 speed works is doable for my very own pos. I just need an out put for the speedometer.
