So im building a ly6 6.0 bored .020 over stock crank and rods and was wondering if I had to have it balanced its a daily driver probably only see the track a couple times a year I tried to search this but didn't really come up with any thing to answer this so any help will be greatly appreciated thanks -JOE

If those pistons weigh the same as stock, then no. I would balance the rotating assembly if they are off by more than a few grams.

Ok thanks man, I wasn't sure if .020 over would make that much of a difference. whats the worst that could happen if they were a few grams off and I didn't get them balanced

Your crankshaft bobweights would be unbalanced with the pistons. It might cause vibration. Vibration causes premature wear of bearings and pistons and is generally hard on everything. Your chances of throwing a rod is greatly increased at higher rpm's. Bad harmonics kill engines.

I don't know because it was all included in my machining costs. Call an engine builder and find out. I'll guarantee it's a lot cheaper than a new engine and you'll be able to spin it to the moon.

Probably somewhere between 150-350. I had a crank balanced and they had to add metal to two of the bobweights. Cost when done was $315.
