The heads on that engine are really good. Don't be afraid of just a little more rpm than 6k even. I'm not telling you to spin it to the moon... But a cam that likes 6200-6300 will make a big difference in the long run over one that calls for a 6000 rpm shift. And it's completely within the realm of long lasting parts.

If it were my truck if get a circle d or similar 278mm 3000-3200 converter with a cam in the ball park of 218/222 on a 114lsa and call it good. Your intake manifold is also up to the task, and you'll have a real fun and strong 5.3 on your hands.

Due to my Z71 Canyon being my daily driver now and not wanting to give up too much economy and drivability while also getting an increase in power, I’ve been considering something along the lines of Vinci’s 243 “Street/Strip Torker” cam. It’s a 214/222 .585/.585 on a 115 that has an advertised operating range of 1700 to 6300. Are there camshafts that will produce higher gains, surely, but like I said in my case with it being my daily driven work truck and beings I still have a real truck for playing, I just want a good all around camshaft that will build some decent power. For those that would say leave your daily driver alone, to that I would say yeah you’re right, but for the life of me I can’t stand driving marginally powered vehicles. If I could, I would probably commute to work along with all the other drone bees in a Hyundai or some crap.

I'm running vinci 210/218 .584/.584 116 lsa with 1.8 roller rockers and love the cam. It makes power from idle and really wakes up around 1600 rpms. I have it shifting a 6300 rpms. The only thing holding my set up back is the stock converter and 3.42s but its my dd and I like 22 mpg highway and 17-18 city, but I still spank my friends hemis, tundras, and titans. The tundras from a dig will jump me till about 30mph and then I wind up passing them before 55mph or 2nd gear and keep pulling away.

I agree with going slightly larger than my cam due to the extra flow of your heads and intake.

You planning on running a higher stall or staying stock? Thats a big variable when considering cams.

Check out my thread on dod delete and cam swap might be of assistance
