Default Head thickness?

Does anyone know the stock thickness on 5.3 heads?I was curious to see how much has been milled off a set of heads my cousin is installing on his truck.

Most I have seen is .05 and they were going on an LS1 with fly cut pistons.

Measuring from the valve cover rail to the deck surface, a stock unmilled head will be 4.750" +or- .003"

Good luck.

Good luck. Richard
I was about to ask if the valve cover rail and deck surface are on a parallel plane, but I'm guessing that as you indicated no measurement point that it is.

That is correct. The valve cover is parallel to the deck surface.

Good luck.
