Default which head gasket for 5.3?

I'm about to install some SDPC ported 862 heads on my 5.3. I don't know why this is so confusing, but I am having a hard time finding head gaskets specific to the 5.3. A lot o f the suggestions come up as using the 5.7 gaskets but isn't the bore size different? any help is appreciated.

I used ls1/6 gaskets when I put 243 heads on my 5.3.
That's actually the gasket used on the l33 5.3
Costed me $40 at the dealer for the pair.
Bore size doesn't matter 5.3-5.7
I think the part number was 12498544
If I remember correctly???

I'd just go to the dealership and tell them that you need a set of 5.3 head gaskets, if nothing else they can order them for you. There are graphite gaskets and MLS gaskets for the 5.3's. Most likely you'll need the MLS gaskets with your heads, as I doubt they'll have the notch in them.

I was told it's usually a good idea to match your head gasket to the bore of your heads. So 5.3 heads get a 5.3 gasket, 5.7 heads get a 5.7 gasket.

Sdpc head won't have the notch so no need for graphite gaskets. They use the new casting not old 99-00 style that had the notch.

Thanks fellas. It didn't make sense seeing the larger bore gaskets being recommended for the 5.3. TSP, summit, scoggin dickey etc do not have the smaller bores listed online. I will go to the stealership.

Hey Gadgetized, i appreciatethe link. I think what I am getting hung up and confused on is the recommendation for 5.7 gaskets on my 5.3 (as your link suggests). Am I over thinking this? Please explain the larger bore gasket recommendation.
