The key to drivability at big power levels is a low impedance injector driver like a versafueler, a good tune (go SD if you go FI) and camming it right.

Mine drives like a dream (when it isn't humping the jack stands because I'm changing everything on the truck except the driver's seat...). To get there I first spent a huge amount of time tweaking the tune to match my cam and then doing the versafueler and setting most of the tweaks back to stock (and it still ran smoother, even with larger 75# injectors...).

Also, my 408 has no oil consumption issues -- outside of the time I spent worrying about that when I'd, in fact, blown the pan gasket out with a little bit of creative over boosting

Well guys, my next question is should build up my LQ9 heads, or buy a different set? I don't know if the 408 is going to require that much more or not.

To get the maximum benefits from the 408, you need some kind of head work. If I were building the motor right now and had the budget available for a set of new heads, I'd be looking at AFR 225s or so. Then again, I'm not looking for heads, so I haven't kept up with it strictly speaking and there may be better options out there.

Give Richard at WCCH at call and tell him what you want from the engine. He'll recommend the right heads for your goals, and if that includes working your LQ9 heads, he's the man to do it.

although i've only driven it for about 2hrs so far, my truck drives very much like stock..............until i touch the gas pedal, lol. but seriously, if you drive normal it feels like stock, just more powerful.

408 8.X:1cr, ET245 heads, 75lb injectors, ITS 80 turbo, blah, blah, blah. made 640/640 but the dyno got all f'd up. needs to get on a mustang dyno to get real numbers.

because i got anally raped on labor, I have 30K into this and i haven't touched my stock 80e.

Hey man, I find myself chatting with you quite a bit

Can you tell me a bit more about the heads you chose, and where you got them from? I was actually considering the ported L92 stage III heads from livernois, but if yours do the trick for less dough....

Thanks for all your help too
