Already searched the threads about engine break-in how to's and what not. Run the crap out of it, change the oil, drive it around for 500 something miles, and change the oil again.
So what's everyone using for break in oil. I read somewhere where GM uses a mix. 10-30 ok? or something thiner. I remember watching "Pinks" where the some guys were reving the snot out of a rebuilt motor. up and down, holding at a medium RPM, and then reving the crap out of it again.

use junk (non synthetic) oil and take it easy for about 2 hundred miles, then change thee oil./filter and then do that same thing for 500-1000 miles and change it and thats what i tend to do. then back to normal

when i break my racing engines in for my race car..i stick 15/40 oil in it and let it idle at 2 grand for 30 minutes then change the oil and im ready to turn 7600 rpm all night long

The running it at a certain RPM mis for old school flat tappet cams. These are roller hydraulics you dont need to. GM has some break-in oil, it comes in a little bottle I forget exactly what they call it but it helps seat the rings. Start it up check for leaks then go beat the **** out of it for 50ish miles come back change the oil and go have fun. There is a write-up on some motorcycle site on how he breaks them in and has pictures of different engines to back up his view of beat the **** out of it. Ask USA Racing engines they throw their motors on the dyno and keep beating the **** out of them till the TQ curve stops growing showing that the rings are seated, then they change the oil and drop it in the car. When I get my motor back together I will be leaving two black marks out on the main road outside my apt complex

When I got my last built motor, Don told me to drive it like a normal human being for 500 miles. Then change the oil to a synthedic and run it for another 500 miles. Then he put my turbo on. So I dont know if it is different for a N/A motor or not.

Ive always herd to let it run for a min, idling or keep the rpms way down. Atleast till warm up and everything i sworking properly. Then drive it go through some rpms but dont keep it constant rpm or let the motor bog down.
