well you better get a 3500+ stall lol, well let us know how it does, what other modification you have to go with it?

That's a lot of cam for a 5.3.Are you going to run some big gears to offset the loss of lowend? You might consider some of the new Crane lifters that bleed off pressure at low rpms to give a variable cam timing effect. You'll need lots of compression too.I think that cam can be made to work, but it will take some careful tuning.I can't wait to see that 5.3 rev to 7700rpm,like a very large displacement VTEC Honda motor.I say GO FOR IT!

I think a 2800-3000 stall with a set of steep gears,at least 4.56 would give you plenty of bottomend without losing a lot to converter slipage at high revs, just lock the converter at the top of 3rd to give the pulling effect of a 4th gear.

Here's the previous setup:

5.3, stock bottom end
6.0 heads w/ 3 angle valve job
216/220 114 cam
PaceSetter LT's
true dual, no cats, Hooker mufflers
modified Volant
80e w/ 3000 Hughes converter
Eaton posi 4.10's
RADIX

The blowers off and will be gone eventually. It's time to move on and try something else. I made my goal for the RADIX, getting the 5.3 into the 11's. There were a few who had their doubts, but I did it so that's that.

The blowers off and the cams getting swapped. That's the only changes so far. I may put the 5.3 heads back on, but it's not happening now. I'm keeping the lower compression for the sake of being able to run regular gas for now. Ultimately once the blower's sold I plan on going back to a 60e and a fat converter and stepping up to an AFR headed 6.0. No one to my knowledge has cammed the **** out of a 5.3, so here goes nothing.

To be honest, I'm having doubts, but Whitt's response is reassuring to say the least. I think the most difficult part is gonna be tuning, but I think I can handle that part.

With a cam that big I would go back to the 5.3 heads with about .030" milled, your effective compression ratio will still be low enough to run a regular gas at least until you really crank up the maximum timing. The new Crane lifters are derived from Rhoads lifters that were popular with big cammed street machines in the 70s.They bleed off pressure from the lifters at low rpm effectively reducing lift and duration at lower engine rpms.I thought Crane did those lifters but they are actually Rhoads brand check out www.rhoadlifters.com.

UPS man visited today.

I think I will prolly change the heads back to stock. It's just gonna add a day and 70 bucks to the job though.
