Default Pr length

I know its prolly been asked before but what pr length would yall recommend for a 6.0 lq4 with unmilled 317 and a 226/230 eps cam with lst lifters... People who built my motor left the short prs in when I still had the heads milked .045. Thetes alot of valvetrain noise.

get a pushrod length checker, no point in guessing....but 7.425 would be a good guess...

+1 on the pr length checker...curious to see what you come up with...the 317's are unmilled, what gaskets are you going with? I'm guessing 7.4 just to make it interesting

I'll second 7.425"

My heads are milled around .020" and I run 7.4s with my EPS cam with no issues and quiet valvetrain.

you mean they built your motor and just through a set of push rods you had laying around in? knowing you went with a bigger cam and a stock deck head?

eps and pat g recommend 7.425 with unmilled heads. --- look at gmctrk's case. his heads are milled .020. 7.425 - .020 = 7.405, very close to the the 7.4s he is using and not having any issues and has a quiet valvetrain.

i had mine checked by aps here in okc, they used dial indicator to check pr length and came up with 7.38 and i got 7.4's in mine. My block is also decked and have surfaced 317 heads i just wanted to be sure cause my valvetrain is kinda noisy but everyone said its just the nature of a cammed ls engine, stiff springs, hardened pushrods and the lobes of the cam. i would say you need to get a 7.4 or 7.425 but definitely get it checked out
