I have installed a 2007 5.3l GenIV engine and trans into my 1993 Chevy Z71. i have installed a mild cam, headers and cold air intake. The truck has great power, but I am looking for more. My question is has anybody had any experience with head modification, such as cnc work on factory heads or aftermarket heads. I think this is the next step in a great hp upgrade without supercharger, turbo, nitrous. Please if you have any recommendations, let me know?

You want 243/799 heads, otherwise known as LS6 heads.

 

Given the year of the motor he allready has LS6 heads

 

yep the Gen IV already has the 799/243 heads. just buy a set of PRC 2.5 5.3 heads or even some Trickflows. you gotta ask yourself whats too much money, then stick to it.

 

Which is why I suggested he start looking at those ported versions from our sponsors....

 

is an 06 5.3 n 07 5.3 the same?

 

nope...
a 06 will probably have 862 heads, 78mm intake, and dished pistons..
07 will have a 90mm intake, 243 or LS6 heads, and flat top pistons..

wait, a trickflow has a 2.04 intake valve, they fit in the 5.3 bore?

can you even fit a 2.02 in it?

 

how about the 4.8L heads?
