Thanks guys, I am really excited about this! I've got a little bit to digest but time is on my side...busy with other issues right now. Keep the ideas coming though, I'm listening.

Check out the fastest truck list. Everone with 6's in the 1/8 or 10's in the 1/4 are running > 347 cubed motors with the exeption of two lightnings. I don't think it will be as easy to reach 6's on a 347 cause no one on the fastest truck list has.

No replacement, for displacement.

Another question I think is relevant for this thread would be heads.
Will stock 5.3l heads develope too much compression when used in a bored to a 5.7l set up?
Are there pistons out that will drop the compression to a safe 9-9.5-1 ratio?
I'm trying to use off the shelf components not expensive specials that will blow the budget.
I have heard about swtitching to 317s but don't know much about the cc capacity of all the LS series heads that would be compatable in a build like this.
Is there a thread somewhere with specs for alll the LS1, LS2, LM7, heads etc??

From what I understand, the hot ticket is 317's because they flow the same as LS6 heads and they are 72's allowing more boost.

Looks like I'm going to have to put together the final list with the help of someone like WCCH so I know the compatibility of all the components in the mix.
I wonder if the truck manifold fits all LS heads except for the L92 of course.

When the 5.3 block is bored, there are several different off the shelf pistons available for it, even with a dish big enough to run the 5.3 heads. I would personally pick a piston that I could use with the 317's to end up with the desired compression.
Even on a stock 5.3, you could just swap to the 317s and drop the compression as well as pick up flow.

How big of a motor will the stock manifolds support? What about the stock exhaust with cats? Don't really want headers or cat delete.

I think the stock manifolds are good to about 450RWHP, then they become a cork.
