Default Forged 5.7 or Forged 6.0

My 5.3 took a dump! Well after my one pass at the track the other night and a few 4wd launches on the way home I guess my little motor wants an upgrade. Hard to believe I was burning all four with several dead cylinders. Had several cylinders with less than 100lbs compression today. # 5& #7 65 & 60 lbs respectively. So enough whining. Which one is in my future, forged 5.7 or 6.0, lookin for 6.90's. I would also do a 408 but I understand it's not really the way to go for an emissions legal DD street truck. Either one with 6.0 heads so I can run at least 12 lbs.

I have not regretted my 5.3-forged 5.7 build at all. Still maintains great fuel mileage, and takes the abuse every day!

A 408 would be just as legal as a 370 exept with more power. IMO it will get you to 6.90's faster thant the 5.3 or 6.0.

Thanks for your reply, do you think it will run .7 quicker with 12 or so lbs and my setup?

There are not very many stroker packages that are impressing me at all. I still believe in less displacement and more BOOOOOOST!

I like the idea of more cubes, but I understand that I would need to lose the cats and add headers for a 408?

That's actually what I've been hearing too. Plus, I would still be ok with my 67.

If it were me, I'd do a forged 5.7. Thats what I will do if the little 4.8 ever gives up on me.

I'll be watching this thread close, I hope it goes somewhere.
My used 5.3l deal just fell through, second time, I thought I had a great deal going. $200.00 for a pull out from a dealership (bad lifter knock), 5.3l with 65,000miles. Guess my contact at the shop spoke too soon, GM wanted it sent back.

I too want to do the 5.3l to a 5.7l bild but have not had much feedback from local builders on what internals to use to get the proper compression and a bullet-proof set up. (9-9.5-1 comp)

What I want to do is bore the 5.3l block to stock LS1 dimensions for a motor freshening maybe in the future.

GT67 turbo moved up close to the engine as possible but still out of the engine bay.

stock 5.3l heads,
918 or gold springs, (are they the same thing?)
Z06 cam,
hardened pushrods,
forged Mahle pistons possibly, (what else is out there for the comp I want?)
maybe some compstar rods,
ARP fasteners thoughout.

Very sorry for whoring the thread Z06Ted.

Who is our best site sponsor to contact for a parts list for this type of build??

I would definately recommend Richard at WCCH. He's a sponser on here, and a great person to deal with.
