Ted, I would bet you would be happy with a forged 347. You saw what mine did just messing around. It is a little less expensive also. I was planning on running 15psi in mine. Wish I would have known a week sooner. It would have been perfect for your truck. Now its sold.

for your turbo size i would recommend going with a forged 5.7 I would use the 5.3 block as well!

Oh well, I missed out but I was just waiting for cooler weather to run it again. If I'm gonna do it, I see no reason not to break the 6 second barrier, will a 5.7 do it with my 4wd pig?

It will. It would be easier with the 408, but you will need more turbo and the motor is more. You can get there with the 347 and save money.

It will def. do it with the proper boost.

A forged 347 can hold tons of power if built with the right stuff.

NO use in going bigger with boost unless you plan on upgrading the turbo etc.
That 67mm turbo will be the limiting factor on the 347 IMO.

OK, so a 347 is definitely a good choice. Maybe the best one for me. But, would a 6.0 be that much better choice? I'm thinking 6.0 heads anyway and I like the idea of a 4" bore... seems the possibilities are endless with a bigger bore...heads, valve sizes and so on, but I'm just thinking out loud. I think a 4l80e would be needed either way and I'm wondering about off boost torque as well. Keep in mind it's a street ride but not strictly a DD. Have too damn many vehicles anyway. Comments?

Kind of makes sense if your ging to try to make power from boost. A smaller displacement engine will wind up a little quicker and get into the powerband faster, but would flow less so Turbo sizing needs to be right for displacement.

A larger displacement engine would be torquier off the line and get you out of the hole better but brake spooling would solve that.
The list of pros and cons goes on and on.
I'm sure this could be argued back and forth til we were all blue in the face.

If or when my motor goes, I'll probably go the forged 347 route too. I like the Idea of a smaller motor making big power. Plus I can just tell people its a stock 5.3
