I don't have one actually. What size thread chaser used on these 5.3s?

 

I need to double check but I think it's m11x2.0.

I gatcha. Is it a direct bolt-on? I thought I had read somewhere about its size being a bit larger than an ls6. Not sure if that will effect fitment or anything.

You may be able to get info on the thread chaser through ARP.

I have also read about drilling the guides. Seems like mixed emotions from going through some searches.

I think will go through with this drilling mod just need to do it right, with the right tool.

The melling 10296 should be a direct bolt on ONLY if using single timing chains. If using double rollers, I believe there's some modding done to the front cover to get to all work together.

Well the day (or days lol) have finally come! Cam swap weekend!

I got parts soaking in oil now, lifters, springs, etc. Any body got any other tips, or tidbits before I start disassembly?
