Default DoD delete and cam swap in 2007.5 Silverado

Hey guys, I have a 2007.5 Silverado crew cab with a LH6 5.3L and I'm looking at getting rid of the DoD hardware in my truck (is currently disabled via Flashpaq 2815 tuner) and do a decent cam swap at the same time.

I'm going to go with Texas Speed and Performance's DoD delete kit with LS7 lifters, but I'm kind of lost on the rest of the cam swap, as far as what cam I'm able to go with, and what pushrod length will be required.

And will I need a new timing chain set?

I know this seems kind of vague but I'm just trying to learn about my specific situation! The truck has a 4" lift on 35's and while it scoots pretty good right now I know there's huge potential to be had from a cam swap!

Do you plan on doing a stall at some point? You will need the 4x cam gear if your gonna go aftermarket cam. And if your not milling 7.4s are pretty sure bet. Never hurts to measure tho. Some of these cams have different base circles

Do yourself a favor and before you plop down $4-500 for a delete kit see what the parts would be separately, i know for a fact the 4.8/6.2 truck non afm valley cover is only about $45 vs the $120ish for the ls3 cover..... As far as lifters and pushrods you may be able to find a cam kit that includes everything once you decide on a cam!!!

I do plan on doing a stall at some point but it's kind of difficult to figure out what stall I'll need because while I currently have 3.73's and 35's I plan on going to 4.56's or 4.88's and 37's some day, I just don't want to drop money on a stall for my current setup only to have it change in the future you know?

Good point, I do plan on ordering it all at the same time so once I figure out what cam I am going to get then I'll see what I can get the other parts for. But figuring out the cam is the first step

I would suggest having someone spec a cam and let them know you plan on lower gears/bigger tires in the future, may be able to get you something that is kinda overkill now but would be perfect with the changes... Just a thought

So I think I'm going with Brian Tooley Racing's DoD delete kit and probably one of their cams, opinions on the Stage 2 vs Stage 3?

Stage II - Specs are 212/218 .553/.553 113+2

Stage III - Specs are 218/224 .553/.553 113+3

Update on this, looking like I'm going witht the BTR DoD delete kit and I'm now thinking of going with the Truck Torque 2 cam from Engine Power Systems...

EPS Camshaft Truck Torque 2

Intake Duration: 218 Degrees at .050" Tappet Lift.
Intake Lift: .595" with 1.7 rockers.
Exhaust Duration 226 Degrees at .050" Tappet Lift
Exhaust Lift .598" with 1.7 rockers.
113 Degree LSA

1500 to 6800 RPM Operating Range

Opinions from anyone on this cam?
