Default Did The Cam Today

WOW this is the most fun i had since the radix install did the cam and springs in like 6 hours everything went on so smoothly and its not as hard as i thought it would be.

i have an lq4 sitting on a stand so it made this job alot more fun

at first i was not so sure that i could swap the springs my self but it was so easy i couldnt believe it... best way to swap spring would be to find top dead center just stick something in the sparkplug hole then turn the crank till you feel the piston is at the top then remove the two springs for that cylinder..

6 hrs isnt bad for doing it by yourself... its always satisfiying knowing that your truck is performing better bc of a mod YOU did and YOUR hard earned money bought.

What kind of cam was it?

Cheater, you're supposed to do it with the motor in the vehicle so you can share your horror stories! J/K
Pretty cool you did it on the stand, sounds like a sweet project, keep us updated!

I did the cam swap in mine with the engine in it... Wasnt too bad still, just got coolant and tranny fluid everywhere. Took me a little longer than it should have tho... I'd never messed with an LS1 style engine before, so I just assumed they were designed similarly to the old 350's in that maybe the lifters were accessible under the intake and valley cover. HA! Wasted a good amount of time doing that crap I could have spent doing something worthwhile.

Yeah, mine wasn't bad. That oil pump (lining it up and pick up tube o-ring was the worst) , dropping the pick up tube bolt in the pan and losing my keepers. It sucked because the local dealership didn't have them in stock, so a lot of time was wasted. I also thought I could access the lifters when pulling the intake a while back. Wish it was that easy
