Exhaust and tune will get you there. add a came too and you'll be there at the rear wheels.

What makes the 5.3 High Output crate engine so special is that the GM engineers have added a GM Performance Parts custom cam and Grafal-coated pistons. With these simple upgrades, the 5.3 HO kicks out 332 horsepower and 352 lb.-ft. of torque. And, just like the stock 5.3, the 5.3 HO is capable of thousands of miles of dependable service while returning outstanding fuel mileage, thanks to the superior design of the LS Family of engines.

are we talking about the Aluminum block L33 5.3LHO? There are a few threads on the subject. Flat top coated pistons, 243 heads make up the major differences. cam and tuning.

not sure. i didnt know there was a 5.3 alu. motor.
i ran across a 5.3 H.O. and i seen the hp out put and i was in shock.
i had no clue of a 5.3 STOCK from G.M. making those numbers.
i have been looking at a 5.3 or 6.0 to swap into my truck.
the 5.3 gets good MPG. i will assume the H.O. does to???
i can buy 5.3s ALOT cheaper than i can a 6.0

yeah, mine is the L33. Converting to flattop pistons and the heads will cost more than just buying the 6.0

so why did you spend "more money"
versus going to the alum.5.7 or the 60lbs more 6.0?

Yeah, he didn't have to do a damn thing to it.

Until he found this site, and now I see what he has done to his truck along with the times he's getting and am trying to get mine set up to at least run in the 12's.
