No actually it is one of the best designs ever. many manufacturers have realized the benefits of this...

imagine taking aq standard small block connecting rod, and cap (with a flat surface) when you mount it, that flat surface can slide (especially with extreme pressure/ horsepower levels)

now take a rod that you make with a perfectly round bearing surface, and you brak it.... it will have a very distinct ridge, so it will only go together one way, which also means once assembled the surfaces will not slide, and move out of place.

dodge did it with the srt-4 engine also, and amg mercedes are doing it. porsche has done it for years. it is actually a genius design. I just wish aftermarket would make a strong set that were split.

Why would they need to when they use MUCH better metals and forged them. My rods are a hell of alot stronger than any powdered metal cracked rods.

A PW metal rod is indeed a forged rod,. The powdered metal part allows for much more consistensy throught the entire rod than previuos billet forgeing procesess.

the whole reason i ike the cracked rod design, is because it creates the ridge, that means when you put it back together, it cannot slip, and put any shear force on the bolt
