Default could not be happier

Well, the driveline rebuild has been interesting. The 4l80 has been rebuilt- 126 bucks for the whole overhaul. The 6.0 has been another story. Went in with a plan,243 heads, home ported, shaved .030 with factory gaskets, trick flow 560 lift 218,220 duration cam, rocker upgrade,rings,bearings,ls2 timing chain kit, 07 intake with flex fuel injectors and a 90mm t body. Only problem during build was the timing set. Incredible slack in the chain. Used it anyway cause of all the posts about chain slack. Ran fine, decent low end with wonderful mid range. I put a ton of wood pellets in the bed and hammered it getting on highway and the speedometer was equal to the tach. Time for 1st oil change. Found the magnet full of metal. Pulled pan and found massive amount or powdered aluminum in pan and some bearing metal also. # 6 rod cap was blue. Pulled engine down -in vehicle- and found no damage to crank, just a blued #6 rod and cap. Bought new main and rod bearings, upgraded double roller timing set, gaskets and arp rod bolts. The double roller set came with torrington bearing on the cam sprocket-nice- and upon install was perfectly tight. Rest of build was fine. NOW I have to ease into the gas taking off or rear tires smoke and the lower end is just nasty.Midrange continues to impress; this truck was built to tow a 11,000 lb 5th wheel camper on the cheap. I have 4800 in the whole build including the hitch. Very happy in the end. I was never able to determine source of aluminum in the pan but considering it's dark color and it being powdered I can only think I missed some shavings from when I ported the heads. I cleaned AND washed the crap out of them before install but the oil in the engine as it sits now is clean after 500 miles.Old oil after 400 was grey.

Whwn I rwbuilt my 5.3. I ran it for 2 hr to let the rings seat, then drained the oil. Found the magnet full, wiped it off and ran it. The old 5.3 sat for a day and went straight to the tuner turner at least 6 grand. Has ran fine after that. No more metal. I think you will get some on a fresh rebuild. Thats good to hear that little tfs cam is working out for you. I cant stand mine it is the same one you 216/220 560 560 114 lsa. I just bought a 226/234 eps cam and a ss4000 stall tru trac 4.10s.

Yes I did o/h my 4l80. Lot's of places to get parts CHEAP . In Mass it's deans transmissions parts. Or get ahold or wit(whateverittakes) better prices but they whack you for shipping. Mine was just a basic kit and bands.
I had the tuner up the pressures for firmer shifts. I like this cam cause I tow my 11,000 lb 5th wheel with this combo. When I'm done with the truck the engine and trans and ecm will be going in my 74 olds delta 88 convertible.
With a cam, piston and intake change.

Sounds good. I would say your dirty oil was just rebuild/machine work remnants.

Well the camper is home. Heavy mother though. Anyone need a truck? This is just not going to work. 5.6 mpg. Already have a diesel picked out in my area. So this truck is now for sale. Anyone in north east ct needing a truck/driveline? I'll post in the classifieds also.
