I could possibly put something together using 5340 forgings instead.. But is it really worth the savings? I get the budget build thing don't get me wrong..

idk what i wanna do yet i could put a stock crank with bearings and rod bearings in it for short money and just have a good mint ls2 for under 800 or i could get it bored and sleeve and put some boost pistons and rods and have a boostable 370

Ya there are several different ways to go. This would be nearly impossible for 800$ tho, if your talking stock crank, forged rods and pistons.

Sounds like he literally means stock LS2... just new Crank and bearings.

Wouldnt you want to determine if it is a spun rod or main first before deciding which direction to go? If it is a main then the block will need to be align bored IF it can be salvaged. If the block cannot be salvaged then that changes your plans completely (ask me how I know )

Aren't the Ls2/05+LQ9 rods stronger than 99-04?

Stock cranks are good till 800-1000 rwhp, so could you get away with running the stock crank/rods with some forged pistons, and upgrading to arp bolts for the rotating assembly?

Yes the Ls2 should have the stronger factory rods in it. The route 69Camaro said is exactly what I would do if your not going to go crazy with the boost. However, if your going to stroke it you will have to go aftermarket with the crank and rods anyway. Just depends on how much you want to spend. If it were me I would make it a 370 and call it good.

i was deff thinking of just doing a 370 forged pistons and some boost or alotta nitrous. gunna finish my first project then ill bring it down to R&L and let them have at it.

ended up getting it for 200 minus heads and intake but a super victor and some nitrous and an s10 might be in its future.
