Default Comp 918 springs Broke

A couple of weeks ago i was pulling out the street and i hear a loud tapping sound that lasted about 15- 20 seconds then went away. Then as soon as it quit the truck started running real rough. Truck sounded like it had some bad azz cam. I did a compression check and when i got to the #6 cylinder Zero. btw the truck had just turned over 113,000 miles. Thats about how my luck goes lol. Well I spent My saturday pulling the engine out of my truck. This is what happen when one of my Comp 918 springs broke on the #6 cylinder, Anybody else have this problem?

My new engine come in tomorrow and i'll drop it in Tuesday.

Wow, that sucks man. How many miles were on the springs? I'm assuming they were the old style 918 since you've had them a while.

What are your plans on the re-build?

Jerry 2500,
First, take a look at this thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=801119. Then, contact Chris Mays at Comp Cams (call the cam help line http://compcams.com/contact/default.asp, ask to speak to Chris Mays, leave a message if necessary if you get his voice mail). Chris and the folks at Comp have done their best to help folks out with this issue. I'm sorry that you've had a problem.

Steve

he forwarded my info to customer service and they sent out a new batch of springs, took a while but its gonna take a while to pull out my old ones. I would like to see pix of the springs, and look out if any of the others are broken on the top few twists.

I got very quick responses from Comp and Chris. Sorry you had to experience this and please keep us posted on how they (Comp) take care of you. I swapped to the new springs within a week of the recall.

Your one of the unlucky ones. One of my springs broke but there was no serious damage because the valve did'nt drop.
