Cody, I was always under the impression by stuff that I've read that the tighter LSA was supposed to bring the power in sooner. I'm not doubting what you said, I just thought that what I had read, unless I mis-understood.

I like the idea of the 206/212 with the 112 LSA too, I mean part of it is that I would be hoping with a cam swap to at least be able to hear it lope a little bit harder. The 115 LSA of the fbody cam is just a bit of a turn off to me.

For a daily driver and a stock stall the 206/212 with 112 LSA is a good choice.

A 115lsa will broaden the tq curve, helping with the already enemic 4.8s problem with tq production, a 112 lsa will shift the power down lower you are correct but it will make the tq curve peakier, I would rather have more average tq across the rpm band as long as the power band wasnt shifted up too high. For the price of a used ls1 cam you cant beat it IMO for what he is looking for. I have one sitting in my garage I was planning on using for my 5.3 but I have since decided to return it to totally stock.

Just noticed this thread now...

FWIW, I have a Comp 206/212 .515/.520 on a 114 in my 5.3 and it works great as a daily driver w/o needing a higher stalled converter. I think it would work great in a daily driven 4.8 and just be on the edge of wanting more verter. For me, my off the line performance stayed the same but mid to upper improved noticeably. I'd definitely go with the 114 lsa to broaden the torque curve and make tuning easier. Just my .02.

A couple of people have mentioned a .550" lift. I'd like to see flow data for a stock head. I'd also like to see dyno data. I cannot imagine that the extra .030' lift buys anything in the real world in terms of torque and power for a daily driver. A few extra CFM at peak lift won't relate much to power and torque.
