choppy cam for 5.3
#1
i have a 5.3 that i wanna cam and install headers. also i don't really want to change the converter but if i have to i will. its a daily driven 2000 yukon i want a real choppy sound lsa 112 or lower but with a good power band for daily driving. was thinking a thumper cam but i've heard different opinions about it. what would be a good cam to use and i will change valve springs to match cam

A cam with a real choppy sound will have a lot of overlap and a higher powerband, which will require a higher stalled converter to not be soggy down low. You need to decide which is more important to you, performance and driveability or sound, you can't have it both ways.

^^ 220's sound good, even meaner with LT's. My truck has a 220 in a 4.8 so should lope like crazy, It may be on a 114 for how high my power band is and thru stock manifolds it sounds pretty decent.
