Default Camshaft & Valve Springs

I'm wanting to step the cam up and was wondering if any has any info on what the largest lift cam a 5.3l could take w/ the stock valve springs....

You should get new springs, period, no matter the lift. Not always required, though still a good idea.

Springs or no springs, I just want to find out what the largest cam these motors can run w/ stock springs...

212 218 low lifts i know you can, maybe someone else with chime in.

any cam thats small enough to run with the stock springs is not worth your time in installing. thats why no one really knows

Yep; Just checking to see if anyone knew, When u say not worth installing, It's the matter of paying $50.00 for a used cam and getting 10-15hp or $350.00+ the cost of springs & time to install them and possible stall, And getting 20-25hp, This is my DD, Don't want to break anything or put in a stall, Trying to get the best bang for the buck for now....

LS6 cam and springs will do what you want very well , be cheap too!

I'v heard that some LS6 cams have a smaller circle and rods need to be changed, Is that true...?

find a used 212/218 lowlift and some LS6 springs
springs new are $60 and a used cam is say $250

I have this with the stock stall and manifolds it works well.
This will make you very happy,my other choice was a LS6 cam glad i went with the 212/218
