Custom grind from comp using XER lobes somewhere around these specs.

228/232 .6xx/.59x on a 114LSA

LS2's already put out 400hp at the fly. so wouldn't exhaust and tune most likely get it to the wheels?

look into the lingenfelter cams, they make great power and have very smooth idles and are considered great daily cams. other then that I would look into a tsp224 or tsp228 with an lsa of 114-116. that should give you a pretty smooth idle, though I think the popcorn idle your talking about is stemming from poorly tuned large cam cars. or cars running cams like the ms4 or other novelty sex toy sized cams. try to find someone close to you that has a cammed car or truck to hear and ride in. local cruse nights and car shows are a common place to find cammed ls1-ls2's. ask around to see who has what and ask to hear them run.

Full exhaust and a tune will not get you 400rwhp on an ls2. Through a manual, 380 is about the max you can get with exhaust and a tune. He didn't say what transmission, but I will assume its an auto. Even with FULL bolt ons, it is VERY hard to reach 400rwhp through a manual on a ls2. You need a cam of some sort to go above.

Go over to Tech and read the "Cam only" thread in the dyno section. Most all posts concern the LS1, so the gains should be even better in the LS2. The cam that pops up the most is the TR224. Right around 380-390rwhp in a full bolt on LS1.

Check on my dyno thread this Friday evening, I'll tell you if I obtained your or my goals alike. My build is a 10.6:1 comp 6L (just slightly lower than the LS2) - just a very conservative port job on the LS2 heads (bowl blended and smooth the short and long radiuses) and long tube headers. my cam is a 218/224 .563/.581 lift on a 114 LSA +2 deg advance. Idles buttery smooth after doing a lot of idle tuning (I'm fussy) and pulls hard up to 6K.
