6000rpm

Stock manifold.

I think its important to list your intake. If you guys are running stock intakes, I think you are shifting too high.

Erik, one thing to keep in mind is some people are shifting higher to keep the truck out of the next gear before the traps. IE, in my N/A setup I was hitting peak HP at 6000 RPM but I was shifting at 6400+ to keep my truck in 2nd gear through the 1/4mile because if I droppped to 3rd gear right before the traps it killed my ET. If I short shifted it and let it go into 3rd earlier it was just as bad. The 60E gear spacing sucks

Seems no matter which cam I see dynod in a stock manifold 5.3L peak power is at 5900-6100rpm.

I'll be doing some testing on this with my blown combo and the 80E because as of right now I trap 104mph and am about 6200rpm in 2nd gear crossing the traps but once I pick up some more power and start hitting 108mph traps I may be asking a bit much for 2nd gear lol.

Good topic Soon2bespooled

good info F8L, i wonder how much peak power or usable rpm range would be change with an LS1/6 intake manifold. i have been bookmarking fuel rails and intakes for a while now on ebay and am considering building up the parts including LS1 water pump but that will be another thread for another day

before you start looking at swapping intakes.
the same intake is on the 6.0 that is sitting on your 5.3
with the valves on the 5.3 heads being 1.89 and the valves on the 6.0 being 2.00.
i do think that the numbers on flow through the intake is different.

before swapping them out have you maxed it out yet.
that LS6 cam your running was used with a set of LS6 heads.
not the 5.3 heads you have now.
