Default Cam tool?...

I'm getting ready to swap a GT2-3 in my 5.3 and Z06 springs. I don't have time, or want to, buy the lifter tool, but from what I read I can just use a wood dowel. Any clues on what size. (length, diamater)?.

I used 3/8" copper tubing with flat spots ground in them. It was what I had lying around at the time. I would think a 1/4" dowel would work too.

LMAO famous last words

Clunk....Oh ****.....start pulling the head while I remove the front diff to pull the oil pan to get the lifter that dropped

Russian Roulette works well on lower mileage motors AP2002s truck had 89K on it when I did his and I did it this way and the lifters stayed up fine but my 150K motor didnt want to keep the lifters up.

Pen magnets was my other thought, but I think the wood dowel will be the easiest. I mean heck, that's cost me a whopping $1.00

Goodness!! arent you supposed to help somebody? LMAO

Dowl rod is esier than a pin magnet. I had 68,000 on my truck and there was no dropped lifters, it all depends. Just go to the hardware store and pay 2 bucks on a 3/16" wooden dowl rod, and you will have no issues!
