Default cam swap

Hey i have a 2000 silverado with a 5.3 and im looking into putting the ls6/zo6 cam into my truck. How hard a job is this? Can i do it without pulling the heads and how? Or should i go ahead and have my heads ported and polished or find me some of the ls6 heads also? what would my hp gain be with ls6 heads and cam?

there are much better options than the ls6 cam unless you have a turbo, but I kinda doubt you do.

look at the guide on ls1howto, its pretty thorough and should explain it well. Cam swaps in these engines is not difficult. I did mine without any prior experience.

I agree, there are better cam options. Yes, the cam can be swapped without pulling the heads. There are a couple of good guides available on LS1tech.
