Default Cam Suggestion for 5.3 with 6spd

I have a 2006 with a 5.3 and 6 speed with 61k on it. I want a rather mean as sounding cam. It currently has LT headers and 2.5 inch dual exhaust.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I see other post but nothing with my type setup. Everything else motor wise is stock except Volant intake system.

Thanks in advance for help.

This a daily driver and do you ever tow a trailer with it at all? If you have a manual trans you can go a little bigger than what is normally recommended for automatic 5.3L Reg cab trucks.

Give some more info and we can help you out better.

COOL - Not daily driven just few days a week I also have a 08 2500HD 2 wheel drive I slammed and it is currently my daily driver.

No towing except for wood but that isn't too often.

I just want it to sound pretty sic and haul *** just on motor. Hope to find something that nets me over 50-60HP if that is not to much to ask out the 5.3.

No plans on heads just want a nice cam.

Good sound = hot cam. 218/228, .525/.525, 112 LSA.

Won't give you 50-60. That kinda gain cam only is a BIG stretch for a 5.3. The hot cam would work decent with your setup.

I'd probably do a custom spec cam with this truck if it were me. Contact Eps cams or someone that can custom grind you a cam. You can also speak with Texas Speed and other companies online to see what they recommend also.

If you want an off the shelf cam, Texas speed and Thunder racing has a pretty good selection of cams. They also offer custom grind.

The hot cam has been out for awhile now, yeah it sounds pretty good but the technology is outdated on it. You can find much better cams out nowadays that will give you more power and more streetable imo.
