Yeah, get those pushrods and definitely do a new timing chain. The chain should be pretty loose @ 83K. Like everyone else said, a cam install isn't that hard, it's just time consuming. Try and get a friend to help out--will go much smoother. Make sure to separate and know where every bolt, nut, and screw go. Don't just put them all in one pile. Make sure to go get a valve spring compression tool and also know all of the torque specs for all bolts. The dowels do help with not letting a lifter fall, but if you don't have them, spin the cam a few times until you hear all the lifters stop clicking--they are all in the up position at that point. From there, carefully remove the cam--CAREFULLY! If you drop a lifter, get ready to take off the heads... I don't want to scare you from doing it yourself. Like I said, try and get a friend with some cam experience to help.
