Default cammed 4.8 vs 5.7 ls1

How do you think a cammed 4.8 would do as a replacement for a 5.7. I know its not ideal, but the 4.8 just sits there and I have a chance to get a Z28 with a bad shortblock for cheap. Opinions please!

I think if you can get it cheap and stab your motor in there, and drive it for a while, you should do it. You might be surprised what it would do in a lighter vehicle!!!

do that, or bore out the 4.8 to a 5.7, and then you could really fool some people!

What year is it, and how much, if you don't mind. I would love to find one with a bad short block, I would install a 5.3, headers, a small cam, maybe nitrous, good mileage with an attitude.

There was a video a while back of someone who did the same thing. It was a 4.8 with a huge (like 228/232 or something crazy) cam in it. Said it ran 12's too if I remember correctly.

*****EDIT******

Here's the link to that thread, a 4.8 Trans Am:
