it depends on what you want, top end or bottom end, the only way to have both is to compensate it with a big stall, take my setup for instance, my cam produces big numbers on the top end, i was cutting a 1.68-.170's 60 ft, i made a converter change and now cut 1.5x with suspension issues..

I think that cam with a 3400 stall, his 3.73 would be just what he is after..

I agree with Skeet. It all depends on what he wants to do. If he plans on spraying his truck off the line, depending on what and how he sprays it, theres no need for a huge converter. The 3400 would still be fine. If not then he may want a bigger converter. Just depends on what he wants to do with his truck N/A or N20 and street or track.. A big cam will love those heads and pull like a raped ape on top.

No spray for me, and the truck will be half daily driven, but more of a toy now. I do plan to take it on some road trips though. After talking to Chris at Cirlce-D, he said that my converter in it's current state (258mm StageIII 2A) will stall at about 2600 behind my 5.3, and 2800, maybe a little more behind my 6.0...so I think I'm going to leave it as is for now, but get it re-stalled when I do the 6.0 (although I'm considering having it re-stalled right off the bat). It'll be a long time before the 6.0 happens, although I'd like to drop it in by next spring, maybe even this fall if the funds work out right. Cam specs are back in the air, although I've had 220/224 on my mind for quite some time...decisions decisions...

you want horsepower? then get a cam that makes it up top then get a converter restall to plant it on the launch, that cam will run out of breath before you hit the traps!! you got the heads so match the cam to it, by the way youre running a tbss intake right?

I usually hate to see someone over cam a engine, but im with skeet on this one. With those heads and a tbss intake you could benefit from a bigger cam..

Nope, unfortunately I only have the good ole truck intake . If I had a tbss intake I'd definitely go bigger on the cam for sure. Does the tbss intake work with cathederal port heads?

If the budget wasn't so tight I'd definitely go wilder, but for now I have to keep things matched to my current gears (3.73) and intake...the good thing about the cams in these trucks is that I can always get the milder cam for now, save up dough for other supporting mods, then sell the cam and go bigger in the future. First thing I have to do is pay off the trans and get the truck back on the road...I do think that I'll call Chris at Cirlce-D and Andy at FLT monday and get that verter re-stalled to 3200 though...

Yes the TBSS intake is made for Cathedral ports. You have plenty of gear for a little more came. The only think I would do is get the 3400-3600 converter and at least a 224 cam. I wish you were closer I'm let you take my truck for a spin and you woulnd't think twice about it.
