Default Cam Help

Im just curious, I want to get Comp Cams XE-R XER273HR Cam. Her are the specs:
Cam Style Hydraulic roller tappet
Basic Operating RPM Range 2000 to 7000 RPM
Intake Duration 050 inch Lift 224
Exhaust Duration 050 inch Lift 230
Advertised Intake Duration 273
Advertised Exhaust Duration 279
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.581
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio 0.588
Lobe Separation (degrees) 114
Intake Valve Lash (in) 0.000
Exhaust Valve Lash (in) 0.000
Grind Number LS1 XER273HR

I want to know if I will have enough clearence for it and 1.85 lifters? Or at least for the cam itself? I am planning on running a 2800 stall converter too.

Thats an assload of lift right there. New numbers would be .632/.639 and for a 4.8 I really think thats gonna pushing the envelope.

So should I get the cam first and run it? Then see if it will be able to accomedate the 1.85 roller rockers? Also will that converter be good enough stall speed?

I don't understand the fascination with rockers. Unless you're making a monster, they really don't do anything except lighten your wallet and create all kinds of adjustment headaches. Just get a cam with proper lift....the stock rockers will be more than adequate. As a matter of fact, over at LS1Tech there are lots of people running some pretty awesome setups with stock rockers.

Get the cam first. That is a lot of lift by itself with stock rockers. As far as you're stall, I think you're pushing it with a 4.8L....may want to look at a 3000 or 3200.

I'm pretty sure with an XER lobe you'll want to stay with the stock rocker ratio.

You need a 3500 Stall converter with that cam.
