Cam bearings
#1
I bought as set of celvite cam bearings and a few of them have a “lip” or sharp feeling edge where the ring is beveled inward. Is this normal or do I need to smooth that lip up? This is my first time dealing with cam bearings. The sharp edge is on the lip of the ID.

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure before doing anything to them. Anything to look for or tips before removing the old and installing the new? I bought the installation tool and I know to make sure the oil holes line up and to make sure it’s square before driving. Anything else I should look for or do?

Thats about it. Do it carefully and diligently. Pay attention to alignment of the bearing in the bore and the alignment of the oil galleys. Its not hard, but its not fun. I like to stand the block on end if I am able, and I use a rubber 3lb mallet; your weapon of choice may differ
I also push them in dry. Some guys oil the OD to help to slide in, but I feel like that might just help it spin later. IDK, but I go for it dry. Bite the pillow

Ive neverdone it but I wouldn't take anything abrasive near the bearing surface. Maybe use the old cam to soften that lip? Maybe get a different set of cam bearings? Durabond is what I use. Never failed me yet. But im also not the one installing them.

I ordered another set thinking maybe it was quality control. The second set is better but still has a little bit of a lip to a few. I’ll try smoothing them with the old cam and see if that helps.
