Default Buddy just bought a lightning

Ok, so my buddy just (today) bought a 2001 Lightning. Of course he is faster than me. With the current mods that I have, do yall think a TR 224 and head work will have me ahead of him? (That IS the cam I'm buying, no exceptions) Truck will be lowered this month and in January is having top end work done. Should I start looking for a N20 kit as well? I have never liked the idea of nitrous, but I'm not boring and stroking this block until it blows (whenever that is). Truck ran a 14.580 this past Friday at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga.

Id personnally go with the tr220, 11:1 SCR, valve job and then find someone to tune it in person. Id expect you to hand him his *** after that, unless he starts modding then it will be a good race.

Ditch the 20's,a 100 shot won't hurt a thing. he has a power adder. So should you. if you beat him w/ a cammed chevy, he'll mod and you'll be losing again.good luck!

With a good size cam you'll be ahead of him pretty good. My buddys 01 L, when he had it, went a 13.77 stock. Ran pretty consistanly, too.

modding a lightning to mak eit a 12.70 truck is easier then an all motor 5.3l. I would get the cam of your choice, I would also lean a little more towards the tr220. Its gonna pull till atleast 6200 but the torque is gonna come in lower then it would on the tr224 and start doin ALOT of reading on nitrous.

if your going to spray then I woudl go for the 114. Every little bit helps. But yes you will own him. That with supporting mods is an easy 12sec truck with good tune and traction. it takes ALOT to get a bolt on lightning under 12.7-12.8 from whative seen.

Just spray him. I beat two Lightnings (one pully'd, one stock) with a 125 shot, a 3000 stall, 4.10's and a tune on a stock 4.8. Ask onebadrubi, he was there!

Here's the vid of the pully'd one...
