Default broken ring land and build up on piston. boosted lq4

Ok so a few months back I posted that I had hurt another motor. it just started smoking if I got into boost and it would smoke at a idle when warm. It was a stock LQ4 running a front mount truck running 9lbs of boost with 42lb injectors. I now know the injectors were to small coming from a lot of guys on here.

Well I was super busy all summer and I just got time to start pulling the motor out of the truck and just got it torn down today. before I puled the motor I did a compression test and checked over the plugs. well I was clear the number one had a ton of oil on the plug but was still getting high compression readings. but get high compression readings could have been oil getting in the cylinder.

well heres what I found after getting her ripped down. this is #1 cylinder.

the top of the piston looked like so

heres a video of what it was doing MVI_0496.mp4 video by shawnss_photo | Photobucket

but this is what really gets me what could be building up on #3 piston/ cylinder> it has a ton of build up on it once I lifted the head. Every other cylinder looked fine but #3 piston and cylinder looks rough. it has a ton of build up for a motor that has a few hundred miles on it. wonder what could cause this.

heres the piston.

Thats weird that #1 Roger also had problem with it. Maybe the injector on #3 flows more?

possibly but its just seems like a lot of build up. either way im going with new injectors and a different set of coils with the new motor. Im not going to risk a built motor getting hurt,

A bent rod could cause buildup like that. I've seen it before..

Ok ill have to check for a bent rod. I have bent a rod in the past. but I caught it right away and shut her down. It didn't damage anything else it was just making one heck on a tapping noise. the piston was coming down and hitting the counter weight.

I wouldn't rule anything out and would pull the heads apart, replace the valve seals and lap the valves for piece of mind.

tend to agree, also check for a hair line fracture in the intake runner.
