Default Broke a rocker arm bolt...

And tried to Drill it out , Tap and Helicoil it, but the Helicoil wont hold.

And i dont trust it running High RPM's anyway, so i need a new head.

I currently have stock 5.3 862's.

I have my cam , and am going to do a front mount Turbo down the road.

Should i just buy a used stock head?

Or should i upgrade to a better set of heads now?

What if any do you guys suggest?

I cant afford to break the bank, but am just looking for a nice upgrade since i need to change a head anyway?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

How did you break a rocker arm bolt off?

I would say look into patriot heads, for the money they are a good choice.

If you have the time and extra money you should just do the new heads now. That sucks that happened to you.

I over tightened the bolt, i think it also had a "bad spot" or imperfection in it.

And yes it sucks

If i can afford it i love to upgrade, even to a better factory head if Possible, just need advice thanks!

imo buy a stock head for 50 bucks and run. What the point of expensive heads when your gonna blow air through it. Just my 2 cents

If you had the budget I'd do the patriots, but that's a tough call. TJ probably has a set of 862's sitting around.

If he does 317 heads he will drop about a full point of compression. which wouldn't be good for staying N/A.
