Thanks for the replies guys!
I found a good low milage head for 100$ , So im going to go that route, Need to get the truck running.
And i can save some money for my trans build/ stall.
After seeing a cam only turboed 5.3 put down 681 at the wheels, i think the stock heads will be ok for me !
If i were to Stat N/A i would def get some better heads, i think FI they will be ok.
I just got excited thinking, " Well, if i have to replace a head might as well upgrade" Im sure you guys know what i mean! LOL

If your budget allows, I'd give Richard at WCCH a call and tell him your plans...I know that WCCH used to offer a StageI 5.3 head that tdrumm installed on his old truck and showed some nice gains on the dyno. You could send those $100 5.3 heads right out to them...if time and budget allows.

It wouldn't be good for boost either. With compression that low you'd lose a head gasket before compression that low would be worth it. Compression below 9:1 just loses power at street boost levels. I believe the 681rwhp truck had an L33.

speaking of torque wrenches, check out the Kobalt brand stuff at Lowes. They are supposedly made by the same people that make Snap on. My dad just got one of the 25-250ft/lb models and i really like it. much more so than the craftsman. plus it has a lifetime warranty, where the craftsman does not.

Only reason I said make sure the torque wrench is good is because I sanpped a main cap bolt on a 6.5 pos. I was doing the second sequence to 65 ft/lbs and *snap* before the wrench even clicked. Turned out, the torque wrench I was using hadn't been checked out and re-calibrated in 5 years. I learned my lesson and have mine checked annually.
