Boring aluminum 5.3 LM4

Default Boring aluminum 5.3 LM4

Is it possible to bore the aluminum 5.3 to the ls1 bore like you can the iron block?

Sure can. Many have done just that and put down big numbers. Maybe my next engine when this little 4.8L of mine get tired of my crap. I read about a guy running 8's in a full weight 3300 car with that setup. It would take some work to dig up, but it can be done.

Woulds be cheaper to just get an ls1 block to start with IMO

that would take at least two passes with a boring machine and a lot of setup. it would cost a good amount to do that, might not be worth it.

I think Schwanke engines bore out aluminum 5.3 for their 5.7 shortblocks

From what I understand the aluminum 5.3 is better block than the aluminum 5.7. My buddy has 5.3 based forged 383 setup for boost that ive been trying to get him to sell for months.
