It all depends on the converter actually. The 228 would be fine daily driving. alot of guys DD big cams. If your looking for something with chop and still have a nice power increase, check into a lower split duration cam on a 112-114 lsa. I dd a 224 cam on a 112 and by no means is this a big cam, also a 3200 converter. Again stall speed is ultimately going to amplify or shrug the performance of a BIG cam, so you need to make your mind up on that before picking a cam grind..

My bucket again 224 on a 112 lsa

I ran a 232-236 595-601 112 +2 in my 5.3 with 4.10s and a 3400 stall. Would of needed much more stall for the track but was a pretty fun setup on the street, power came in strong at 5000 and I shifted at 6800, was quick on the street and had a sick idle. Just find a good tuner.

If I had it to do all over again.. I'd buy a TR220 on a 112, 3000-3200 yank, 4.10 gear and go out of my way to hide 150 shot. I had the most fun and the easier time picking up races in those days...

224/227 LSA 109 would be mean in your build. Great chop matched well with your stall. Add 4.10s and have fun.

lol love how you worded the title.

3200 is a bare minimum in my book. Right now I run a 4000 9.5 inch stall, along with 4.88s in the rear end. This is my DD, its not bad at all, especially as Im still on the stock LQ9 camshaft. That being said Im looking for a cam that comes on real hard at 3000 rpm or so. So when I flash at 4K its well into the curve.

for starters IMO 3200 stall, 3.73s prefer 4.10s, 226 cam sounds about right to me for the 5.3. Get the lsa on a 113 or lower if you want the chop muscle sound at idle, but to low of lsa screws with your engine vacuum I believe. Correct me if Im wrong.
