I used this for mine that I got from LS1Tech

Are you using arp moly lube?

If so use this:

First pass 25lbft second pass at 50lbft, and finally a 3rd at 70lbft.

Finally install the 5 smaller ARP bolts and torque them to 22lbft.

If using motor oil use this:

First pass 30lbft second pass at 60lbft, and finally a 3rd at 80lbft.

Finally install the 5 smaller ARP bolts and torque them to 28lbft.

(Incase you didn't know you have to lube the threads and washers before installing... you must use either arp lube or motor oil. )

Install in this order:

Go here and type in the part number of the kit you got, it will tell you the specs: http://arpinstructions.com/

On my ARP studs, it was 80 ft-lbs in three equal steps on the 10 larger studs, and 25 ft-lbs in three equal steps on the 5 samller studs. This is with using the moly lube they supply.

I used the moly lube that came with the bolts, and I still went to 75 ft/lbs on the long bolts, and 25 on the shorts.

That's what I thought, I tightened them to those specs and after break in I took the truck around the block for a test drive and come back with a blowed head gasket. Friend says I didn't tighten them enough and he has been working on ls motors for a while

What torque wrench did you use? Has it ever been calibrated?

Did you clean the surface good? What gaskets did you use? What heads do you have?

Something doesn't add up. Hell... I didn't even clean up the mating surface of the block other than cleaning off the coolant, and my head gaskets sealed.
