Default Anyone running a Summit Iron LS Block?

Anyone used the summit Iron LS blocks? Thinking about getting one for an "iron ls1" turbo build. Done a little searching and most reviews seem positive. Have seen several reviews that said it showed up a little rusty, though.

Anyone ran these? Any extra machining needed before assembly?

An iron block for what $300, how can you go wrong... Im sure if it shows up rusty its just surface rust that will basically wipe away with some penetrating oil on a rag....i would expect a bit of rust to be honest.... If it flaky pitty rust then thats a different story

As for rusty blocks, NY uses salt on the roads and I have seen some seriously rusted blocks. I saw one so bad I swear I could have poked a hole through it with a screwdriver. He wanted 400 for a 2005 6.0 with 60k on it and I wouldn't even buy it. I know I could have parted it out and made a little but it was seriously rusty.

This wasn't a summit engine, I just wanted to let people know they can get very rusty.

I just bought one for the 5.3 check out the pictures in my build thread. Would do it again, just sucked paying 100 bucks for truck freight. Cam with cam bearings already installed that saved me 100 bucks right off the bat from freshening up my old 5.3 block

As far as machining the tech at summit told me it's finished out and ready for assembly. He said if anything he might consider running aa ball hone through the cylinders but not necessarily for sure.
