9,000rpm oem rotating assembly, how would you do it?

I didn't float the valves at all. I have the cam in my Sig, and the TSP .650 springs. LS7 lifters with hardened push rods.

Ive turned my 6.0 to 7000 several times.. 70mph in 1st and 126mph in 2nd is kinda crazy but it did it. you can feel the power difference between 5k and 7k.. with stock everything it falls fast.

completely stock lq9 shortblock turned 7200-7300 rpms no problems only floated a valve when i did a hot nitrous pass which i knew better

my setup pulled just pass 7k !



new 408 turning 7500! but at 130

I'm surprised no one has pushed for 9,000 on stock internals now.
That's why I asked though

Anyone pull past 7300 on oem parts yet?
Anyone over rev and destroy a motor yet?

To add to this, a longer rod will keep the piston speed down more and help reduce the highs and lows of the velocity and acceleration curves. This should make it live longer. I don't know if a stock 4.8 rod is up for it, but given how cheap they could be had...why not try it with a short skirt custom piston.

I really think the limiting factor will be how well your valvetrain is setup. I don't think you can go the budget route with that. Solid lifters, shaft rockers, titanium retainers/valves and perfect geometry etc.

I've wanted to see somebody do this for awhile, so I say go for it! Basically a modern day DZ 302.

Short skirt piston benefits?
I thought shorter pistons at high rpm rock and score the cylinder walls?

Hopefully this thread will end up telling someone how to turn 9000 rpm and why we did it that way.

How can you talk about turning 9000rpm on a pushrod engine and not talk about physics? Oh wait, this is the internets.

I'm thinking short skirts will be necessary to keep the weight down. Rocking and scuffing?...yes, but the pistons aren't traveling all that far and the rods/bolts will be happier. F=ma right Jake?

All the IRL, F1 and murdercycle pistons I've seen have short skirts and they turn some serious rpm.

Can oem cast pistons be milled at all?
Cut that skirt down.
