I'm thinking you will need to go to a solid lifter for that kind of RPM no? 9000rpm seems like a TON of rpm for a cast crank I would think. Same with the stock rod. I know they are pretty good OEM pieces, but 9000rpm? Not sure on that one. That being said, I'm an LS Newbie as my signature states.

I have run up to 8000rpm with my car, but that's a Callies crank, H Beam steel rod, and a lighter forged piston. However, the stroke is 4.250" in my small block in the car, so at 8000rpm it's seeing a fair amount of swing action!

Guys. I'm only hoping for 15,000 moles from this combo
Making it to the first regular interval oil change would be impressive to me.

I just wanna know what'll stop it dead in the water like the ECM not reading past 8,000. Obviously all my accessories will be removed, electric water pump, underdrive the alternator.

Do hydraulic lifters pump up or empty at highish rpm?

I have herd about an LS1 302 being talked about before and it would probably rev to the moon and be expensive to do.

I would rather go bigger cubes though IMO.

If you take "budget" out of the equation, then have someone build you a high revving engine if you want. It would be badass none the less, but costly.

Just wait for the copo 327 engine...spin that OEM as high as you want Course it wouldn't be a budget build then...

This made me think of austin powers goldmember lol!

I haven't seen a factory rotating assy. spin that high. I think it would be cool to see it happen and I wouldn't put it past these motors to safely achieve it. I remember the days when people thought 15+lbs of boost wasn't achievable on a stock bottom end.... just takes one person to have the ***** to try it. I would use the best bearings and bolts money can buy, be extremely precise on all clearances, definitely do something about the rockers and obviously balance the rotating assy along with flywheel/flexplate, clutch etc. etc. (not sure if you are going auto or standard) I imagine the oil pump would spin that high without throwing itself apart
