Default 84 Silverado LS swap cam and stall help

I have an 84 Silverado that I’m going to put a 4.8l lr4 in and I’m looking for help with cam and stall specs that I would need for what I want. I want to get as much HP out of it on an extremely tight budget all I’m looking for in the truck is to be able to do some really good burnouts and donuts/drifting in it. This is my first build by myself so any help/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Go with the budget circle d 3200 stall ($600) and a BTR truck cam kit. I def only recommend these for a budget and there are a lot better converter from them and better custom ground cam options but for what you are wanting, that will be fine. Prolly $1k-$1200 in total

Hopefully the truck doesn't have highway gearing, otherwise it'll kinda suck.

Would want 3.73's at a minimum in my opinion.

3.73 ARE highway gears.
4.8 liter short stroke engines need at least 4.10 gears minimum, 4.56 is better.
I spin 4.56 gears behind a 4.8Liter, and that's just about right with 11 PSI boost/

If you are not going to turbo it, and haven't yet bought the engine, then get the 5.3 instead. That should be about the same price or just a little more. That would be your absolute best budget upgrade you can do with what you have planned. It will add about 20-30 more and give you a torque curve that starts around 2200 not 4400 like the 4.8L.

Every other part but the cam would be the same, every other bit of work that you would do, would be the same.
