Default 8100 comp cam, "machining heads"

So i have been searcing the forums here and i foudn that few of the members ran a comp cam XR270-HR. specks here. http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/Ca...csid=1078&sb=2

In the post non of them mention doing anything with the heads, but on the instulation notes it says Requires machining on cylinder heads.

So what does that really mean?

Personally I would call Comp Cams and talk to somebody because I don't know why you would need to machine the heads.

I second the idea to call up CompCams and ask. In the mean time, send PM's to the guys who say they have installed the camshaft and ask what all is necessary to swap the camshaft in.

Looking at the chart, it apears that the optional valve seals require the guides to be machined.

Machining is required on the spring pockets for larger diameter springs and retainers.

Don't bother with Comp because they just don't know. They haven't had enough experience with the heads yet. At least thats what they told me. No machining required just change the springs and retainers and your done.
