Default 8.1L Cam

Hi everyone! I'm kind of new to this site and just looking for some tips and advice from some experienced folks. I have a 02 chevy 2500hd (98,000 miles) with the 8.1 and a 6-speed manual. I plan to install the xr264hr comp cam in a few weeks, I have LT headers and blackbear tuning. I have been told the stock valve train would be fine to run with that cam, but would like some other opinions from people who have played with these engines. Figure on getting a new timing set since I'm already there. Not sure if just installing a cam is a good idea. Thanks for the help.
