Default 7400 Vortec L29 to CNP conversion, reluctor removal and install

can someone explain how to remove the old reluctor and install the new one?

Special tools needed?

I pulled on it and it didn't move so I'm thinking it may be pressed on.

Thanks Neal

If it's anything like an LS engine you just heat the gear up with a torch and it falls off. On an LS you heat the gear up and it falls on. But you do need a tool to give it the proper clock position when you install it. Can you post a pic?

Yep, on the vortec it's clocked by the crank keyway and it's sandwiched between the crank shoulder and the balancer. I'll get a picture posted this afternoon when I get home.

thanks Neal

Well, I taped it with a hammer and it broke free and slid right off.

It is not an interference fit, it just slides on and off.
