Default Will This turn my 40s

Hi guys I have a 2000 2500, sitting on 15" lift and some 40x13.50s
I've recently pulled my lq4 6.0 with 300,000 miles and have done a complete rebuild,
Bored block .030 over
6.125 compstar forged rods
-5.00 CC flat top pistons
New bearings all around
Set of 317 cast heads ported and polished and milled down for higher combustion
BTR stage 3 truck cam
Beehive valve springs
Comp cams 1.8 rocker arms
Log tube headers
3" borlas stainless exhaust from headers back to a set of borlas XR1 competition mufflers

Can yall think of anything else I might be missing? This motor will be receiving a pro charger down the road.

Tbss intake and 90mm throttle body would add a nice touch to it as well.

Gears 4.88's would benefit you greatly off the line.

I run 3.73's with my 40's but that's on my 650hp Powerstroke - it does keep the revs down on the freeway for fuel economy and the 1200wtq doesn't have any trouble pulling itself or my 10k lb towhauler so I don't plan to change them.

I do have 3.73's on my 37's on the chevy and the difference between that and 5.13's are considerable. Probably 2-3mpg less on hwy difference but the off the line performance is where it's at. Trade that any day, so much more fun.

4.88 gears minimum.. 5.13's would make you feel like you spent your money right on that engine.

what diffs do you have?
if you can run 5.38s that would be even better.
I ran 5.13s and 5.38s with 40"s and the more gear the better.

The more gear the better without a doubt. I run 4.88's on 35" tires, and I regret every singe day that I didn't go to 5.13's. I let the shop talk me out of it at the last minute. To get that big thing moving, you might even consider a 2800ish stall torque converter.

Out of curiosity, how far did you mill your 317's? And what push rod length did you come up with when putting the motor back together? I ask, because I just sent a set of 317's off to have them milled .035". I know I won't have the same CR or efficiency of a set of 243's, but they're pretty much free heads with very very low miles on them, I have a set of PAC springs for them, the machine work is also free, so I said what the hell.

I agree with everyone about gears... don't fear the gear. your drivetrain will thank you. some members will run a 4.56 on a 30" tire.

I milled .030 and when my machinist gets done with them I'll let you know what push rod length and are you running stock length connecting rods ? And stock pistons?
